September Monthly Message

Our class is off to a great start! The girls are engaging with the lessons and with each other. A few parents have reached out to us with encouraging emails, and we so appreciate that support. To keep you informed of our doings, here are our announcements for this month:

Getting to Know the Girls

  • Each of the girls was given a questionnaire to help us learn a little bit about them. If your daughter has not already returned it to us, please remind her to do so. An online version of the form is available here if that is more convenient.

Birthday Celebrations

  • On the first Sunday of each month, we will celebrate everyone who has a birthday that month. A special snack/breakfast treat will be provided by the teachers.
  • Next Sunday, September 7, we will celebrate our August and September birthdays with a pancake breakfast.

Sunday Morning Snacks

  • Several families have kindly offered to bring snacks on other Sundays, and we are grateful for that! Because our class is so large, we will be covered for the entire semester if each family takes just one turn. You can sign up for a date here.
  • Please provide enough for 28 servings.
  • Due to severe airborne allergies, please avoid egg-based dishes such as casseroles. Baked goods containing eggs (muffins, donuts, etc.) are OK.
  • If you have concerns about inadvertent exposure to other allergens, your daughter is welcome to bring a safe snack for herself.
Save the Date!
  • Our first social event will be a swim party at White Sands Beach in Carrollwood on Sunday, September 28. After the 11:00 service, we will meet in the Student Ministry lobby (south end of the church) and drive the girls there in church vans. We will bring them back to the same location in time for WorshipCo for those who participate.
  • You have two options for picking up your daughter:
  • An invitation with more details will be sent out as it gets closer to that date.
Serving in Preschool Next Month
  • We believe in encouraging our students to serve within the church. With that in mind, our class will be serving in the Preschool Ministry during our regular meeting time on Sunday, October 12. Most of the girls are very excited about this, and those who are initially hesitant often find that they enjoy it.
  • We will meet in Hall 1 at 9:15 am for the Student Ministry welcome/announcements as usual. We will then walk over to the Preschool wing and the girls will be divided among the 1-4 year old classrooms. If your daughter arrives after 9:30 am, have her go directly to the Preschool desk and they will direct her from there.
  • The girls will assist the adult volunteers in keeping children entertained and engaged in the Bible lesson, music, snack time, etc. (No diaper changes!)
  • Your daughter should wear comfortable, modest clothing as they will be playing with the children on the floor. A smock will be provided.
  • The girls will be released at 10:45 am to attend service or be picked up by their parents at the Preschool desk.
Lesson Time
  • This semester instead of a deep dive into just one or two books of the Bible, we are learning about God's redemptive plan for our salvation. We began with creation and the corruption of sin. In the coming weeks, we will study the fulfillment of prophecy, who Jesus was and why he came to earth, and the culmination of his suffering and resurrection.
  • In order to follow along with the lesson, it is important for the girls to bring their Bibles to class each week. We ask that they use a paper Bible rather than a phone to avoid distractions. If your daughter does not have a Bible, please let us know and we will be happy to get one for her.
  • We will be keeping track of who brings their Bible to class each week. Candy will be given as a reward for those who bring it all four Sundays each month!
