October Monthly Message



We've had a wonderful first month with the class! Here are our announcements for October:

No Student Service This Wednesday Evening

  • Due to the church-wide Global Missions Conference, there will be no student service or discussion groups this Wednesday, October 1. Students can still hang out in the Loft from 5:45-6:30, but then they will go into the Worship Center with everyone else for a brief worship service.
  • There will also be a Passport to the Nations event in the Gatheria where missionaries and organizations will be on hand to provide information on local and global mission opportunities.

Maci's Birthday Shopping Trip

  • Maci's birthday is this Saturday, October 4, and she has invited all of the girls to join her for shopping at Citrus Park Mall starting at 3:30 pm. They will have dinner afterward.
  • If your daughter would like to go, please contact Maci's mom, Shaina Moon, at 813-335-3218.

Glow in the Dark Dodgeball

  • Next Wednesday, October 8, the Student Ministry is hosting a dodgeball tournament. This is a super fun event and a great opportunity for your daughter to invite friends who don't regularly attend church. Spectators are welcome if they don't want to play on a team.
  • Teams can be made up of 8-12 students. Teams that register in advance and have 4 or more guests (students who do not normally attend Idlewild) get their own private room with pizza and snacks!
  • Participants must arrive between 5:00-6:15 pm. The final round will commence around 9:30 pm.

Serving in Preschool
  • We will be serving in the Preschool Ministry during our regular meeting time on Sunday, October 12.
  • We will meet in Hall 1 at 9:15 am for the Student Ministry welcome/announcements as usual. We will then walk over to the Preschool wing and the girls will be divided among the 1-4 year old classrooms. If your daughter arrives after 9:30 am, have her go directly to the Preschool desk and they will direct her from there.
  • The girls will assist the adult volunteers in keeping children entertained and engaged in the Bible lesson, music, snack time, etc. (No diaper changes!)
  • Your daughter should wear comfortable, modest clothing as they will be playing with the children on the floor. A smock will be provided.
  • The girls will be released at 10:45 am to attend service or be picked up by their parents at the Preschool desk.
Save the Date: Middle/High School Girls' Night
  • On Friday, October 17, the Student Ministry is hosting a Girls' Night in the Loft (2nd floor of the student wing, next to Hall 2). This will be a casual, low-key event for the girls to hang out and eat some delicious snacks.
  • More details will be coming soon!

Class Snacks

  • Thanks to those who signed up to bring snacks on Sunday mornings! We still have a few dates available. You can choose your date here. With such a large class, each family only needs to volunteer once for us to have all dates covered from now through December!
  • Please provide enough for 28 servings.
  • Due to severe airborne allergies, please avoid egg-based dishes such as casseroles. Baked goods containing eggs (muffins, donuts, etc.) are OK.
  • If you have concerns about inadvertent exposure to other allergens, your daughter is welcome to bring a safe snack for herself.

  • We are still working on gathering information from the girls to help us learn their interests, food preferences, allergies, contact info, etc. If you have not already done so, please take a minute to complete our questionnaire here. Thank you!
