Idlewild 6th Grade Girls

Happy New Year!! We hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday break.  Tomorrow (Sunday, January 4) Tomorrow we return to our regular schedule and our study of Psalms.  It feels like such a long time since we've met as a group, so we are excited to get back to it! The girls want to do a show-and-tell of their favorite Christmas gifts at the beginning of class tomorrow. They can bring in smaller items, but for large/valuable items, new pets, etc., just text a photo or video to Melissa at 941-545-8817 and we can show it on the projector. Winter Camp 2026 Winter Camp is the weekend of  January 16-18  at Word of Life in Hudson. You can register online  here . The last day to sign up is this Wednesday, January 7 .   It's that crazy busy time of year, but we hope that you and your family have a wonderful Christmas full of joy and Jesus! Here are our announcements for this month: Holiday Schedule This Sunday, December 14, will be our last class meeting in December. There will be no small groups on December 21 or 28 and only one worship service at 10:00 am. Wednesday night student service will be combined middle and high school this week. Next Wednesday we will have our Student Ministry Christmas party in the Gatheria from 6:30-8:30 pm. Candlelight Christmas Eve services will be held at 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm on Wednesday, December 24 . There will not be a separate student service that evening. The church is hosting a New Year's Eve celebration with fireworks on from 6:00-9:00 pm on Wednesday, December 31 .   Our class is thriving and growing! Here are our announcements for this month: Ask Anything Day The girls have raised some good tangential questions during our weekly lessons. We want to give these questions the time they deserve, so we decided to have an "Ask Anything" day on Sunday, November 30 . We are asking the girls to submit their questions about heaven, the Bible, Christian living, etc. in advance so we can research and prepare a thoughtful response to each one. During this informal discussion time, we will also be making homemade Christmas cards for nursing home residents. We will provide supplies, but the girls are welcome to bring their favorite pens, markers, stickers, etc. if they would like. Save the Date: December 7 We are working on plans for our class Christmas party on the afternoon of Sunday, December 7 . More details will be coming soon, but please save this date in the meantime. We've had a wonderful first month with the class! Here are our announcements for October: No Student Service This Wednesday Evening Due to the church-wide Global Missions Conference , there will be no student service or discussion groups this Wednesday, October 1 . Students can still hang out in the Loft from 5:45-6:30, but then they will go into the Worship Center with everyone else for a brief worship service. There will also be a Passport to the Nations event in the Gatheria where missionaries and organizations will be on hand to provide information on local and global mission opportunities. Maci's Birthday Shopping Trip Maci's birthday is this Saturday, October 4 , and she has invited all of the girls to join her for shopping at Citrus Park Mall starting at 3:30 pm. Our class is off to a great start! The girls are engaging with the lessons and with each other. A few parents have reached out to us with encouraging emails, and we so appreciate that support. To keep you informed of our doings, here are our announcements for this month: Getting to Know the Girls Each of the girls was given a questionnaire to help us learn a little bit about them. If your daughter has not already returned it to us, please remind her to do so. An online version of the form is available here  if that is more convenient. Birthday Celebrations On the first Sunday of each month, we will celebrate everyone who has a birthday that month. A special snack/breakfast treat will be provided by the teachers.
